Padayni Preparations
Padayani preparations involve crafting elaborate, temporary kolams—costumes and masks—using natural materials such as arecanut spathes, tender coconut leaves, and organic pigments. The artists begin their work with spiritual discipline, and in the days leading up to the main performance, ceremonial rituals like Choottuveyppu (the lighting of torches) are conducted. These preparations culminate in the vibrant final performance, featuring folk songs, rhythmic drumming, and dynamic masked dances.
